AMHERST, Va. – Randolph-Macon men's golf completed the opening round of the ODAC Championships and sit at fifth out of the nine team field.
Ty White (Emporia, Va./Greensville County) started his round with an impressive front nine, shooting a -1 (35) with four birdies to lead the Yellow Jackets. The sophomore finished his opening round at +4 (76) with a total of four birdies and pars on nine holes. White sits ninth as an individual out of 50 golfers.
Michael Schaal (Chapel Hill, N.C./Carolina Friends) started the first round with a birdie on the front nine to stay in the chase with a +2 (38). The junior completed his opening round at +7 (79) with two birdies and pars on ten holes. Schaal moved up the individual leaderboard into 15th place overall.
Joseph Winston (Richmond, Va./Douglass Freeman) started his first round with a consistent front nine with eight pars, sitting at +1 (37). The freshman ended the opening round at +7 (79) into a tie for 15th overall. Winston had one birdie to go with pars on ten holes.
Kole Kohut (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) fired two birdies on his front nine to finish the opening nine holes +1 (37) to keep pace with White. The sophomore shot a +9 (81) in the opening round with two birdies and pars on ten holes.
Charlie Wilkerson (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) rounded out the group with an opening round score of +15 (87). The sophomore carded two birdies and pars on six different holes.
The Lemon and Black will be back in action in round two of the ODAC Championships tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
