Schuma Earns First-Career Pitcher of the Week Award, Grabs First of Season for RMC

3/9/2026 3:26:00 PM

FOREST, Va. – Carter Schuma (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) of Randolph-Macon Baseball has collected his first-career ODAC weekly honor, after earning the first conference pitcher of the week of his career.

Schuma helped the Yellow Jackets earn their seventh win of the season, handing #22 Shenandoah its first loss of the season.

In the 4-1 road win, the junior put in six complete innings of work on just 61 total pitches. He accumulated three strikeouts in the contest, while only giving up four hits and one walk. Furthermore, Schuma did not allow a run in his 21 batters faced, giving him his second win of the season. As a result, his strong start limited the Hornets to their fewest run total in a game this season (one).

Schuma's six innings pitched against Shenandoah ties his career-high, as it also marks the first time he completed six without allowing a run. The contest also saw the pitcher go six innings while allowing fewer than five hits and less than 70 pitches, both good for personal bests.

The Yellow Jackets have their next contest against (RV) United States Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. in Ashland, Va.
