3/23/2026 4:05:00 PM

FOREST, Va. – After helping Randolph-Macon Men's Volleyball win nine of its last 10 matches, junior Bryce Matthews (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) has been named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

This is the third weekly honor of Matthews' career, giving him three in his 2026 campaign.

After being named defensive player of the week for the past two weeks, Matthews led Randolph-Macon to another perfect week, as the Yellow Jackets posted a 2-0 record, which included their 10th and 11th conference wins.

The Yellow Jackets went on the road and beat Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1, extending their all-time advantage over the Marlins to 7-0. In the contest, Matthews finished second in the match and first on his team in points (19) and kills (17). The junior also added 11 digs, two blocks and a service ace. His 11 digs ties the second-highest of his career, as he has now reached double-digit kills and digs in three matches this season.

He was somehow able to improve in RMC's 3-1 win at home against Roanoke. Thanks to his career-highs in points (24) and kills (21), the Lemon and Black reached a 10-0 record against RC. In the match, Matthews swung a .474 hitting percentage, while adding seven digs, two blocks and two service aces. The junior has 16-or-more kills and 10-or-more points in each of his last five matches.

Matthews is averaging 4.08 points per set, good for second in the ODAC, while he is also third in the conference in kills per set (3.36) and 11th in hitting percentage (.309). With his 21 kills against Roanoke, he reached 245 kills this season, marking a new single-season career-high.

This week, the Lemon and Black head to Harrisonburg, Va., where they will face Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m.
