FOREST, Va. – After another incredible outing, junior
Carter Schuma (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time in his career, earning the title in back-to-back weeks.
Schuma picked up a 12-2 win in his seven-inning outing against #23 Roanoke. In the game, the junior only gave up five hits, two runs and one walk, while adding two strikeouts. Not only did Schuma's efforts give RMC its first mercy rule victory of the season, but it gave the Maroons their first conference losses of 2026. Additionally, he only used an efficient 51 pitches across his seven innings of work, marking the most effective run of his career. Furthermore, thanks to his efforts, RMC handed RC its first back-to-back losses of 2026.
The Yellow Jackets have won six of their last eight games, with an average win margin of five runs. After Schuma's dominant play at home, RMC pushed its record to 7-1 when playing in Ashland.
The Lemon and Black host Virginia Wesleyan University on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park on Wednesday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m. for their next matchup.
