Softball Slots in at #24 in NFCA Coaches Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has released its second in-season top 25 coaches poll, Randolph-Macon moves to 24th after a 2-2 week. 

The Yellow Jackets played four games at the Triangle Classic this past weekend going 2-2 overall. Randolph-Macon tossed a combined no-hitter in the opener against Gallaudet, defeating the Bison 17-0. The second game of the day had the Yellow Jackets drop an extra inning game against Meredith, falling 4-3. Randolph-Macon dropped the Sunday opener to Tufts by a score of 6-2 and defeated Piedmont 2-1 to conclude the weekend. The team is currently at 6-4 overall on the season.   

Katerina Brabson (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) and Kailey Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va./Colonial) tossed a combined no-hitter against Gallaudet. The duo combined for 12 strikeouts and one walk in five innings of work. 
  • Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover) finished the weekend with six RBIs and two doubles. 
  • Mya Davis (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) continued her success at the plate, going 5-for-9 (.555) with three RBIs. 
  • Alyssa Meharg (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) went 4-for-11 (.363) with a double and two RBIs. 
  • Tori Powell (Freeman, Va./Mecklenburg County) went 4-for-11 (.363) with two doubles and an RBI. 
  • Jordan Brown (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) rounded out the group going 2-for-4 (.500) with a double and four RBIs. 
Jackson finished off her impressive week in the circle with a win against Piedmont, tossing seven innings, allowing one run and struck out three batters. The sophomore finished the week throwing 11.0 innings, allowing two runs and struck out eight batters.  

The #24 Yellow Jackets will host Greensboro tomorrow afternoon and end the week with a trip to Salisbury, Maryland for the Margie Knight Softball Classic.
