ASHLAND, Va. – After putting together a 3-0 week, Randolph-Macon Baseball has been tabbed at No. 25 in the D3baseball/NCBWA poll, earning 63 total votes from Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country.
This past weekend, the Yellow Jackets got revenge from the 2025 postseason, as they swept No. 7 Messiah to get their first two wins of the season. In the 4-2 game one victory, Randolph-Macon paced Messiah in hits (nine-to-five), walks (six-to-one) and runs batted in (four-to-two). Furthermore, pitcher
William Wian (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) was dominant during his six innings of work, as the pitcher totaled seven strikeouts, while only giving up just three hits and one run on 66 pitches.
In game two, the Lemon and Black secured a 9-7 win, thanks to RMC's first home run of the season off the bat of
Brian Fleming (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen). Two other Yellow Jackets had multi-hit games, helping them leave a season-low three runners on base.
Randolph-Macon now sits at 3-1, after three different Yellow Jackets homered in their midweek rematch of the home-opener, helping the program post a dominant 12-5 win against Dickinson.
CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) nuked the first of his career, while
Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) and
Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) each put balls over the fence. The offense exploded for season-highs in hits (12), runs (12), RBI (12) and OPS (1.131) as they led the Red Devils in all categories.
This upcoming weekend, the Yellow Jackets open ODAC play with a doubleheader against Washington and Lee. The first pitch in conference play is slated for noon on Saturday, February 28.
