ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball shot 50% from the field as a dominant game in the paint powered the Yellow Jackets to a 86-50 victory over Averett on senior day for their seventh consecutive win.

How it Happened:
- Averett started the game with a slim 2-1 lead, in a stretch where neither team shot well in the opening minutes. The Yellow Jackets went on a quick 6-0 run, capped by a Bryce Scott (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) monstrous dunk and took a 7-2 lead with 15:57 left in the half. Mason Mitchell made a lay-up to keep the Cougars within three points at 9-6. Delani Hammonds (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) led the Lemon and Black on an 8-2 run, scoring six points, pushing the lead to 17-8 for Randolph-Macon with 11:19 on the clock. Jabril Robinson (Rockville, Md./South Kent Prep) gave the Yellow Jackets a ten point lead at 23-13 with a jumper with 7:05 left in the half. Mitchell pulled Averett to within ten points with a jumper, Randolph-Macon still leading 27-19. In the final three minutes of the first half, the Lemon and Black orchestrated a 13-3 run to take a commanding 40-22 lead into halftime. Hammonds used his quick first step to record six of the 13 points to lead Randolph-Macon.
- In the second half, Robinson used his veteran leadership to guide the Yellow Jackets on an 11-0 run in the first three minutes of the half. The furious run and knocking down the first seven shots had RMC leading 55-28 with 15:18 left on the clock. Jack Loyd (Fairfax, Va./Flint Hill) nailed a three-pointer to push the Lemon and Black to a 30-point lead at 64-34 with 10:26 on the clock. Averett was never able to get back within 20 points of Randolph-Macon in the final ten minutes. Daniel Keogh (Henrico, Va./Mills Godwin) capped off the game with a nice move to cup for a lay-up and the Yellow Jackets would take the game, 86-50.
Inside the Numbers:
- Randolph-Macon shot 50.0 percent from the floor, as Averett knocked down 42.9 percent of its shots.
- The Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Cougars 40-to-25 in the entire game. Randolph-Macon also recorded 16 offensive rebounds, compared to the four that Averett grabbed.
- The Randolph-Macon bench outscored Averett's 43-to-12.
- Robinson led the Lemon and Black in scoring with 14 points. The senior went 2-of-5 from behind the arc, adding two rebounds and two assists.
- Hammonds ended the game with 12 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds.
- Liam Joyce (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) scored ten points to go with seven rebounds and two steals.
- Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's School) ended the game with nine points, four assists, four rebounds and a steal.
- Loyd scored eight points in five minutes off the bench for the Lemon and Black.
- Amr Areikat (Ramallah, Palestine./Langley) finished the afternoon with five points, two rebounds and two steals.
For the Record:
- Pulley Jr. moved into 27th all-time in career scoring at Randolph-Macon, passing Mike Boyer '87 with 1,263 career points.
- Robinson moved past Pat Holland '91, Red Cohn '53 and Charles Weston '70 into 31st all-time on career scoring with 1,209 points.
- Randolph-Macon has now extended its home winning streak to 21 straight victories.
