How It Happened
- Randolph-Macon wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, taking the lead in the first minute thanks to an own goal by Regent. The Yellow Jackets kept the pressure on, and in the 8th minute, Grayson Woods (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) capitalized on a corner kick from Davian Jackson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) to make it 2-0.
- In the 31st minute, Regent responded with a long-range strike from Graylan Gill off a free kick, cutting the lead to 2-1. Randolph-Macon answered just before the half, as Elijah Caro (Asheville, N.C./Black Mountain) and Grant Counts (Odenton, Md./St. Mary's [Annapolis]) combined to score in the 41st minute, giving the Yellow Jackets a 3-1 advantage at the break.
- Regent came out strong in the second half, scoring again in the 54th minute to close the gap to 3-2. However, Randolph-Macon's midfield, led by Bryce Kuberek (King George, Va./King George) and Tyler Oakes (Nottingham, England/Toothill School), tightened up defensively and shut down the Royals' momentum.
- Woods and Caro each added their second goals of the game in the 76th minute and the 86th minute, blowing the match wide open. Just before the final whistle, Tillman Johnson (Edgewater, Md./South River) scored his first collegiate goal off a well-executed passing sequence from Gavin Drohan (Holly Springs, N.C./Holly Springs) and Mason Goldstein (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run), sealing the 6-2 win.
