How It Happened
- Randolph-Macon came out strong from the opening whistle. The Yellow Jackets struck first just 10 minutes into the match, when Wiley Eubank (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) delivered a free kick that Grayson Woods (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) headed home to give the Lemon and Black a 1-0 lead.
- RMC continued to apply pressure offensively, with Casey Royle(Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) posing a consistent threat throughout the game. Kean managed some offensive chances, but their efforts were limited thanks to strong defensive play by Zach Richards (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown), Damien Jackson (Newport News, Va./Menchville), and goalkeeper Ethan Chenoweth (Newport News, Va./Warwick).
- The Cougars eventually found the equalizer in the 38th minute, courtesy of a goal from Harrison Shaller. However, just three minutes later, freshman Jayden Walker (Suffolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) and Barrett Wilson (Lexington, S.C./Lexington) connected on a counterattack, with Wilson scoring to put RMC back in front 2-1 heading into halftime.
- In the second half, Kean applied more offensive pressure, but the midfield play of Richards and Tyler Oakes (Nottingham, England/Toothill School) helped maintain control. Chenoweth made several key saves, including a crucial stop in the 60th minute, to preserve the lead.
- The Yellow Jackets held firm through the final whistle to secure their second all-time win over Kean, earning a 2-1 victory.
