FOREST, Va. – Senior defensive specialist
Kaitlyn Kaplan (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Kaplan had an extremely productive week, posting 79 digs in 18 sets for an average of 4.39 digs per set. She also registered 13 assists en route to helping the Yellow Jackets go 4-1 across their five matches last week. Her week was highlighted by a career-high 26-dig match against William Peace on Friday. She has recorded 10-or-more digs in each of her last seven matches, marking the longest streak of her career.
On Saturday, Kaplan logged a match-high 17 digs and finished second on the team with four service aces, helping Randolph-Macon defeat Muhlenberg College, 3-1. The senior now sits with 114 digs on the season, more than half of what she finished with in her 2024-25 campaign (226).
Kaplan is also averaging a career-highs in points per set (.43) and kills per set (.11), assisting her in becoming the first Yellow Jacket to win a women's volleyball player of the week award this season.
Kaplan and the women's volleyball team continue their hot start to the season in Danville, Virginia, where they will have their second ODAC matchup and first on the road this season against Averett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
