How it Happened
  • While the first frame of play resulted in a 0-0 tie, RMC seemed to have momentum throughout. The Yellow and Black out-shot Meredith seven to zero, as Breea Dresler (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) led the way with three. Additionally, they recorded four penalty corners, while holding the Avenging Angles to none.
  • The second period opened with a penalty corner for the Avenging Angels, but after successfully defending, the Yellow Jackets posted five shots in three minutes. The rest of the period was fairly even, however, Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) made her first two saves of the game, coming in back-to-back fashion toward halftime.
  • The Yellow Jackets opened up the third with a penalty corner and two shots, before Meredith committed a foul. After creating many chances, RMC took a 1-0 lead, after Cali Kujawa (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) registered her second goal of the season. The home team kept the pressure on, posting another six shots in the rest of the period, while limiting Meredith to two.
  • The final period opened with a few quality scoring opportunities for the Avenging Angels, yet they were unable to convert on their chances. Then, Sarah Newman (Toano, Va./Walsingham Academy) scored her second-career goal. Four minutes later, Kylee Gorham (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) posted the third Yellow Jacket goal of the afternoon and first of her career, putting Randolph-Macon up 3-0.
