ASHLAND, Va. - Head coach
J.B. Sheridan and Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse has announced the addition of
Cole Churchill '19 on staff as an assistant coach.
Churchill returns to Randolph-Macon after spending two years in the USA South, as the Defensive Coordinator at Greensboro College. While at Greensboro, he helped the men's lacrosse program reach back-to-back USA South tournament appearances.
Before coaching at the collegiate level, Churchill was the Head Coach at Cedar Ridge High School in Hillsborough, North Carolina. He led the program to a record breaking 15-6 record, reaching the third round of the North Carolina High School state playoffs.
"We are always looking to find ways to help our program improve, so when the opportunity presented itself for Cole to return to Randolph-Macon and join our coaching staff, we felt very fortunate. I am excited to see Cole once again lead our defense and now have the chance to mentor our student-athletes. He has a complete understanding of our program on and off the field and is a great addition to our staff," said Sheridan.
During his playing career at Randolph-Macon from 2016-2019, Churchill recorded 60 groundballs and 32 caused turnovers. During his Freshman season, he tallied 14 groundballs and finished third on the team with 10 caused turnovers. In his final season he was one of the team's top defenders with 15 caused turnovers.
Cole graduated from Randolph-Macon with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and minored in Mathematics in 2019. He was named to the dean's list all four years while at RMC, as well as the Ray Rostan Sportsmanship Award Winner in 2019.
