LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has released the final top-25 coaches poll for the 2025 season. After a 42-14 national semifinalist campaign, Randolph-Macon Softball finished with its highest ranking ever at #4 in the final ranking.
The Yellow Jackets completed their best season in program history with a run into the National Semifinals at the NCAA DIII Softball Championships. Randolph-Macon extended its postseason bid streak to a seventh consecutive season, dating back to the 2017 season. The 42 wins ties the most wins in a single season in program history, the 2023 team also recorded 42 wins in that season. The win total is also only the third time in program history that a team recorded 40+ wins and ninth time in which a team rattled off 30+ wins. The Lemon and Black also were the first team in program history to win a game at the NCAA Softball Championships with its 6-3 victory over #7 St. Mary's (Minn.). The ranking topped the previous highest ranking of #8 that was awarded in the final poll of the 2019 season.
Randolph-Macon softball saw nine individuals named to the All-ODAC postseason award lists, two named to the NFCA Region-VI teams and an NFCA All-American and National Pitcher of the Year nod. The Yellow Jackets also rearranged the career record book this past season, seeing new top marks in multiple categories.
Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) will end her career with program records in appearances (130), wins (95), saves (9), strikeouts (959), earned-run average (1.26) and shutouts (41).
Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) edged her name in the career record book in multiple hitting categories. The senior leaves the program as the leader in at-bats (661), runs scored (176), hits (253), doubles (57), total bases (366) and stolen bases (121).
Head coach
Krysti Maronski-Neufeldt led the Lemon and Black to a second place finish in the conference, falling to #2 Virginia Wesleyan that ended up the national runner-up. In her first season guided Randolph-Macon to regional championship in the Newport News Regional, hosted by #3 Christopher Newport. The team followed up this highlight with a super regional title in the Bethlehem Super Regional, hosted by #18 Moravian. Maronski-Neufeldt coached the team to World Series victories over #7 St. Mary's (Minn.), #4 Rowan and #2 Virginia Wesleyan.
The season was one for the history books, as the 2025 senior class of
Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick),
Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan),
Hannah Martin (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield), Lanyon and Ellis had the Yellow Jackets in the national spotlight for four seasons. The group completed their careers with a record of 152-44-2 (.772), adding three regional titles, one super regional title and national semifinalists.
