How It Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets began the scoring in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) started the inning by getting hit by a pitch. He went to second on a groundout by sophomore Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) and scored on a two-out single by Harvey as RMC took a 1-0 edge.
- Senior Aidan Pinto (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) led off the second with a long homer over the party deck in left center, his fifth long ball of the season, as the Yellow Jackets increased their lead to 2-0. Freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) drew a two-out walk, went to third on an errant pickoff throw and scored on a base hit by Wernoski to make it 3-0.
- The Eagles had solo homers in the third and fourth before using a two-run dinger in the sixth to take a 4-3 advantage.
- RMC reclaimed the lead in the eighth. Chatterton was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and was sacrificed to second by Bowles. Junior Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) drew a two-out walk before both runners scored on a double to right center by Harvey to give the Yellow Jackets a 5-4 edge.
- Senior Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) took the mound in the top of the ninth. BC got a leadoff single and he was sacrificed to second. Slevin struck out the next batter to face leadoff hitter Nick Stavros, the ODAC Player of the Year.
