TYSONS, Va. – The second-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team forced a winner-take-all championship game with a 6-5 win over top-seeded and fourth-ranked Lynchburg in Saturday's first game, but the Hornets won the final contest 7-3 to claim the 2025 ODAC Championship at Capital One Park.

How It Happened
- The Hornets put up two in the bottom of the second before the Yellow Jackets answered in the third. Junior Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) had a leadoff single and went to second on a base hit by freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep). Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) moved both runners up a base with a sacrifice bunt. With two away, junior Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) laced a single to center that brought home Duff and Chatterton to level the score at 2-2.
- Lynchburg added single runs in the fourth and fifth before RMC responded in the sixth. Senior Aidan Pinto (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) had a leadoff single and went to second on an error. With two away, sophomore James Baffone (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) reached on a bunt single. Pinto went to third and scored on an errant throw to first as RMC trailed 4-3.
- The Hornets tallied a run in the sixth to go up by two before the Yellow Jackets put up a crooked number in the seventh. Bowles drew a leadoff walk and went to third on a base hit to right by senior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School). Schmitt had a base hit up the middle that scored Bowles and sent Harvey to third. A single to left by Pinto knocked in Harvey to tie the game at 5-5.
- RMC took the lead in the top of the ninth. Bowles had a leadoff single, went to second on a walk to Harvey, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Schmitt and scored on a sacrifice fly to Pinto to give the Yellow Jackets a 6-5 edge.
- Senior Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) tossed a hitless ninth and recorded his third save of the week and sixth of the season.

- Schmitt had two hits and three RBI.
- Pinto went 2 for 4 with a run and two RBI.
- Sophomore Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) had a pair of hits, one of which was a double.
- Bowles went 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs.
- Harvey had two hits, including a double, a walk and a run.
- Junior Colin Casey (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) recorded the final two outs of the eighth and recorded his first win of the season.
- Slevin recorded his sixth save of the season and the 17th of his career, the top mark in program history.

How It Happened
- The Hornets got a run in the bottom of the first before the Yellow Jackets answered in the third. Duff was hit by a pitch, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double to right center by Bowles to tie it at 1-1.
- Lynchburg added a run in the bottom of the third and RMC responded in the fourth. Pinto had a leadoff double, went to third on an error and scored on a fielder's choice by Duff to level the score at 2-2.
- The Yellow Jackets took their first lead in the fifth. Bowles had a leadoff single, moved to second on a base hit by Harvey, was sacrificed to third by Schmitt and scored on a sacrifice fly by Pinto as RMC took a 3-2 edge.
- Lynchburg would plate two in the sixth and three in the seventh to claim the 7-3 win.
