How it Happened
- The Cardinals scored the first four points of the game before Liam Joyce (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) got one to fall just under four minutes into the game. The next four went in favor of Catholic to extend their lead and RMC trailed 13-6 before a quick 4-0 run made it a one possession game at 13-10 with 11:05 left in the first half. Over the next five minutes of play, CUA built a commanding lead with a 16-5 run to make the score 29-15. The Cardinals' lead reached 20 after a 6-0 run made the score 39-19 with two minutes to go until half. Joyce had a three-point play for the only scoring for the remainder of the frame, as they trailed 39-22 at halftime.
- Theo Antinori (Asheville, N.C./Rabun Gap) started the second half scoring with a layup a minute into the frame. RMC continued to score with two Jabril Robinson (Rockville, Md./South Kent Prep) threes, but Catholic continued to keep pace. The Cardinals' lead was 15 with 10:11 to go before a 7-3 RMC run cut the deficit down to 11. The Yellow Jackets continued to fight, but the Cardinals kept answering the bell, keeping the deficit outside of double-digits. A three pointer by Vincent Payne (Frederick, Md./St. Maria Goretti) cut the deficit to 10 points with six seconds remaining, but Catholic sealed the win with two free throws as they took a 79-67 win.
