Hanson's Win Highlights Women's Swim on ODACs Day Three

GREENSBORO, N.C.. - Randolph-Macon Women's Swimming climbed the leaderboard to second after a strong showing on day three of the ODAC Championships in Greensboro.

Individual Winners
  • Sophia Hanson (Hamilton, Va./Woodgrove) captured gold in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.90.
Individual Highlights
  • Caroline Russell (Lynchburg, Va./EC Glass) came in sixth in the 400 IM A Final with a time of 4:39.88. Brooklyn DeCann (Huntersville, N.C./Lincoln Charter) finished third in the B final in 4:49.91.
  • Sophie Sullivan (Richmond, Va./Saint Catherine's) picked up her second top-five finish of the week, this time in the 100 fly with a time of 59.69. Cayden Fix (Barboursville, Va./William Monroe) won the consolation final in 59.91, while Tess Williams (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Madi Reed (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) slotted third and sixth, respectively.
  • Reese Painter (Houston, Texas/Duchesne Academy of Sacred Heart) finished eighth in the 200 free in 1:59.97. Kierra Parsons (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) and Hannah Loyd (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) finished third and fifth in the consolation final.
  • Along with Hanson's win in the 100 breaststroke, Anna Sprott (Hampton, Va./Peninsula Catholic) finished third with a time of 1:06.41 and Teaghan McNeill (Knightdale, N.C./Enloe) finished sixth in 1:06.74. Reed came in second in the B final in 1:08.60 while Sarah Wright (Newport News, Va./Woodside) came in eighth.
  • Kelsey James (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and Abby Kozlowski (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) finished fifth and seventh in the 100 back, respectively. James finished in 59.08 and Kozlowski came in with a time of 1:00.39. Mary Kathryn Stum (North Beach, Md./Northern) finished seventh in the B final.
Relay Highlights
  • RMC had a strong showing in the 200 medley relay, the relay team of James, McNeill, Reed, and Sullivan tied the school record with a time of 1:47.34 to finish second.
Up Next 
The final day of the championships will begin at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow for session one and 5:00 p.m. for session two.
