Ambrogi-Torres’ Regular Season Capped With 5th Weekly Honor

11/3/2025 4:30:00 PM

FOREST, Va. – Junior goalkeeper Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for a career-high fifth time this season and for the eighth time in her career. Her five Defensive Player of the Week awards are the most by any player in a season since the award's inception in 2024.

This past week, Valentina Ambrogi-Torres helped her squad earn two shutout victories. The Yellow Jackets beat Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0 on the road, in their midweek matchup and secured a 2-0 home victory against Roanoke over the weekend. Against the Marlins, Ambrogi-Torres logged all 60 minutes, while making five saves. She followed this performance with another five-save shutout, this time against the now 6th-seeded Maroons in the ODAC Tournament. Being that she also played all 60 minutes in the second game, the junior is now averaging 63.2 minutes per game over her past nine games.

After recording her eighth shutout of the season, Ambrogi-Torres has helped the 2025 Yellow Jackets join the 2021 Yellow Jackets team as the only two programs since 2000 to record eight shutouts in a single season. Additionally, after recording back-to-back shutouts, she has now registered five-or-more stops in each of her last seven games played.

The junior goalkeeper currently ranks third in the country in save percentage (.869) and 23rd in saves per game (8.31). She will anchor a fourth-seeded Yellow Jackets team that will be battling fifth-seeded Bridgewater in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC tournament. The game will take place tomorrow, November 4, at Nunnally Field in Ashland, Va. at 5:00 p.m.
