How it Happened
- Six minutes into the match, Davian Jackson (Newport News, Va./Mechville) had the first potential scoring opportunity with a shot but it was blocked by a Guilford defender. Eight minutes later, the Yellow Jackets opened the scoring on a shot from Charis Tchatat (Doula, Cameroon/Albert Einstein) that found the back of the net, finishing a pass from Damien Jackson (Newport News, Va./ Menchville) to gain a 1-0 lead.
- The Quakers recorded two shots with one on frame that tested Ethan Chenoweth (Newport News, Va./Warwick) while in search of the equalizer in the 23rd and 25th minutes. In the 31st minute of the match, GC was awarded a penalty kick, where Chris Hercules capitalized on and found the equalizing goal the Quakers were looking for. Guilford keeper Ildis Vital-Petzal made two saves on shots from Zach Richards (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) and Damien Jackson to close out the half, keeping the match level at 1-1.
