ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Men's Soccer saw
Dylan Matheny (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) record two goals and
Ian Edwards (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) notched his first career goal for the Yellow Jackets to defeat Bethany College 3-0.

How it Happened
- In the 17th minute, Randolph-Macon took the lead as Edwards took a redirected ball in the box and settled to his left foot to beat the Bison goalkeeper.
- The Yellow Jackets doubled its lead in the 20th minute on a Matheny goal that saw Davian Jackson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) sent in a crossing pass right to the foot of Matheny for the assist.
- Throughout the first half the Lemon and Black defensive backs of Damien Jackson (Newport News, Va./Menchville), Grant Counts (Odenton, Md./St. Mary's (Annapolis)) and Wiley Eubank (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) held Bethany to very few offensive opportunities to keep them off the scoreboard.
- Randolph-Macon recorded its third goal of the game in the 50th minute, Matheny had a shot that hit the Bison defenders hand and bounced to the foot of Edwards that found the back of the net. Matheny was awarded a penalty kick and buried it past the goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead.
- The midfield of Jake Hall (Mount Airy, Ga./Tallulah Falls School) and Grayson Woods (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) helped maintain the possession of the ball throughout the entire game to give the Yellow Jackets their chances.
- Bethany never found a groove offensively and the Lemon and Black would end the four game homestand with a 3-0 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Randolph-Macon outshot the Bison 16-to-12. The Yellow Jackets held the advantage with seven shots on goal to Bethany's three.
- The Bison had all three corner opportunities in the entire 90 minutes. .
- Matheny ended the game with two goals to lead the Yellow Jackets.
- Edwards scored his first goal at Randolph-Macon and his 15th overall collegiately.
- Davian Jackson recorded the lone assist for Randolph-Macon.
- Adam Braithwaite (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) ended the game with three saves in goal and his third shutout of the season.
