How it Happened
- Hampden-Sydney came out with intensity in the beginning of the game in the first half. The Tigers ended with three first half corners to keep their attack in the Randolph-Macon defensive zone. Grayson Woods (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) injected life into the Yellow Jackets in the 28th minute, following subbing into the game. Woods played a huge part in the midfield to get the Lemon and Black going offensively in the ladder part of the first half. Neither team was able to score, as each team only tallied one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.
- The Tigers started the second half in a way they started the game offensively. Charlie Leston turned over Randolph-Macon and sent a ball into Jack Delaney that found the back of the net in the first minute of the second half.
- The Yellow Jackets fought back in a big way, as Davian Jackson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) kicked a rocket off of his right foot to beat the Hampden-Sydney goalkeeper in the 56th minute to tie the game up at 1-1.
- In the 76th minute, Pierce Boerner took the sixth corner of the game for the Tigers. Randolph-Macon tried to head the ball out of danger and instead found the net to give Hampden-Sydney a 2-1 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets would look for the game-tying goal and in the final five minutes of the game and they would get just that. Damien Jackson (Newport News, Va./Menchville) sent a long ball down to Dylan Matheny (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill), he beat two defenders and the goalkeeper to tie up the game at 2-2.
- Each team had one more chance to take the lead in the final moments to more than likely win the game. No goals were had and a four goal second half would end the game in a 2-2 draw. Bryce Kuberek (King George, Va./King George) and Zach DeShazo (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin) each kept the Yellow Jackets in the game in the second half with their play in the midfield to help get the one point for Randolph-Macon.
