How it Happened
- RMC grabbed the first two points of the match, but from there, the Generals took control and used a stretch of six straight points to take a 12-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets broke up the run after a WLU service error, but it started back up and extended out to 24-8. RMC won four straight points before the Generals closed out the set to take the opening stanza, 25-12.
- The momentum for the Generals carried over into the second frame, as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets halted the run with two straight points, but the Generals then extended the lead to 10-3. Seven of the next 10 points went in RMC's favor, as they cut the deficit down to three at 13-10. WLU doubled up the Yellow Jackets the rest of the way in the set, winning 12 points to just six for RMC, as the Generals took set two, 25-16.
- The Generals once again seized momentum to begin the third set. They took a 4-0 lead right away before RMC answered with a 3-0 run. Five of the next six points then went to the Generals as they kept fighting off the RMC rally. The Jackets couldn't be kept at bay, however, as they won six of the next eight points to knot the score at 10. A 7-3 run then ensued for WLU as RMC could never grab the lead. The Yellow Jackets kept battling, keeping the score within three points, but couldn't get enough to win the set, as the Generals earned the sweep.
