How it Happened
- In the first half, Averett played extremely well on both sides of the field, owning the first 45 minutes. Grayson Woods (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) and Bryce Kuberek (King George, Va./King George) played extremely well in the midfield and gained possession of the ball.

- Elijah Caro (Asheville, N.C./Black Mountain) slipped a ball past the Averett defense to Hawkins Adcock (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) that narrowly missed the goal, that would have put up the Yellow Jackets 2-0.
- Averett answered in the 86th minute on a corner kick that landed at the feet of Jonthomas Buckley, he kicked it over to Daniel Sierra, who found the back of the net to tie up the game at 1-1.
- The Lemon and Black had one more chance to score the game-winning in the final minute after being fouled right outside of the box. The entry pass was short and the Cougars managed to kick the ball away out of harm's way.
