ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon senior shortstop
Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) has been named to the NCAA Division III Gold Glove Team, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings.
Bush is the first player in program history to earn a Gold Glove.
Heading into the Division III World Series, Bush committed just four errors in 181 chances for a fielding percentage of .978. He had 65 putouts and 112 assists.
For the season, Bush appeared in 46 games with 44 starts. He contributed to 31 double plays.
A four-year starter, Bush appeared in 161 games with 159 starts. He batted .298 with an on-base percentage of .416. On the RMC career lists, Bush was second with 104 walks, fifth with 42 stolen bases, 12th with 517 at bats, 12th with 126 runs and 18th with 154 hits.
The Yellow Jackets reached the Division III World Series for the second time in program history. RMC went 3-0 in the Harrisburg, Pa. Regional and 2-1 over Adrian in the Ashland, Va. Super Regional to advance to the World Series in Eastlake, Ohio.
Under head coach
Ray Hedrick, RMC won the ODAC regular season title with a 16-6 conference mark. The Yellow Jackets posted 33 victories, the third-highest win total in program history.
