Avery Tankersley (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) found the back of the net five times as RMC men's lacrosse fell to Lynchburg, 13-8, in the ODAC Championship.

How it Happened
- The Hornets struck first with a tally less than a minute into the game, but Avery Tankersley (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) got RMC on the board to tie it up at one. Lynchburg found their footing with four straight goals over the next three minutes to put RMC in a hole. Bubba Bowen (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) stopped the run with a goal with 7:17 to go in the first but LYN scored the final goal of a busy first frame to take a 6-2 lead into the second.
- Tankersley spearheaded a 4-0 run for RMC over the first nine minutes of the second quarter as they tied the score up at six. After four minutes of scoreless play, Lynchburg found the back of the net twice, with the second goal coming with eight seconds remaining in the half as the Hornets took an 8-6 lead into half.
- Defense was the key for both sides in the third stanza, as Lynchburg tallied the only two goals in the quarter to extend their lead to four at 10-6 heading to the fourth quarter. Goalie Jack Twomey (Reston, Va./Gonzaga) had four saves in the frame to keep the deficit at four.
- After LYN boosted their lead to five to begin the fourth, Tankersley scored his fourth of the game to give RMC some life with 12:13 to go. Both defenses held strong for the next seven minutes, but Lynchburg scored with 5:09 to put the lead out of reach. Tankersley would continue his strong day with his fifth goal of the contest with 3:30 to play.
