How It Happened: Game 1
  • The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the top of the fourth. Junior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) had a leadoff single to start the rally. Senior Myles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) reached on a fielder's choice and Harvey went to third on a throwing error. Wernoski doubled down the right field line to knock in Harvey and Webb as the visitors took a 2-0 lead.

  • After the Generals scored a pair in the bottom of the fifth, the Yellow Jackets got one back in the sixth. Wernoski had a leadoff single, was sacrificed to second by sophomore Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) and scored when sophomore Nathan Chen (South Riding, Va./Freedom) reached on an error as RMC led 4-2.

How It Happened: Game 2

A single by Harvey brought home Schmitt with the game's first run. A bunt single by Wernoski drove in Lautenschlager as RMC took a 2-0 lead.
  • RMC added to its lead in the second. Quici walked and Lautenschlager homered to left with two away, his first of the season, to give the visitors a 4-0 advantage. Harvey and Webb had infield hits before Wernoski smacked his first collegiate homer to make it 7-0.
  • The Yellow Jackets doubled their lead in the third. Senior Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) had a leadoff single and went to third on a double by sophomore Eli Brooks (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen). A walk to Quici loaded the bases. Schmitt was hit by a pitch to plate Bush. A fielder's choice by Lautenschlager knocked in Brooks. Harvey doubled to bring home Schmitt. Webb singled to bring home Lautenschlager. Webb and Harvey scored on a fielding error, and a sacrifice fly by Bush capped the seven-run outburst as the lead grew to 14-0.
  • The Generals put up four in the bottom of the fifth before RMC answered in the sixth. Bush reached on an error and Brooks singled to start the inning. Schmitt drove in both with a single up the middle to make it 16-4.
