RMC Football Releases 2024 Schedule

ASHLAND, Va. – Following a record-setting season in 2023, the Randolph-Macon football team looks to continue that success with a challenging schedule in 2024.

RMC has won 26 straight regular season games, the fifth-longest streak in all of college football, trailing only Mount Union, Georgia, North Central and Michigan.

The Yellow Jackets will open the season at Dickinson on Friday, Sept. 6, to begin their 21st campaign under the leadership of head coach Pedro Arruza. The Red Devils went 6-4 overall this past season and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference. RMC is 3-0 all-time against Dickinson, including 2-0 in Carlisle, Pa. In their last meeting, the Yellow Jackets won 31-21 at DC to open the 2021 campaign.

RMC has its home opener on Sept. 14 against Hobart. The Statesmen posted an 8-3 record in 2023, including 4-2 in the Liberty League. Hobart ended the season with a 10-6 loss to Utica in the 2023 ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl. This will be the first meeting between the Yellow Jackets and the Statesmen.

In 2024, each ODAC school will play one conference opponent twice. RMC drew Washington and Lee and will host the Generals in a non-conference contest on Sept. 21. It will be Hall of Fame Day as well as the 40th reunion for the 1984 Yellow Jacket football team. WLU went 8-3 overall and finished second in the ODAC at 6-1. The Generals fell 20-17 to Lycoming in the Cape Charles Bowl to complete the season. The Yellow Jackets are 35-33-3 all-time against WLU and have won four of the past five meetings, including a 35-12 victory in Ashland a season ago.

Following its open weekend, RMC will begin ODAC play on Oct. 5 at Shenandoah. The Hornets went 5-5 in 2023 with a 3-4 conference mark. The Yellow Jackets are 14-3 all-time against SU. RMC has won six straight and 14 of the past 15 meetings with the Hornets, including a 48-13 win in Ashland a season ago.

The Yellow Jackets will celebrate Family Weekend by hosting Guilford on Oct. 12. The Quakers went 2-8 in 2023 and did not win a conference contest. RMC is 39-25-2 against GC. The Yellow Jackets have won eight straight against the Quakers, including a 70-14 win in Greensboro last season.

RMC will travel to Averett on Oct. 19. The Cougars were 5-5 a season ago with a 2-5 conference mark. The Yellow Jackets are 11-0 all-time against AU, with a 59-7 win in Ashland in 2023.

Bridgewater will be RMC's Homecoming opponent on Oct. 26. The Eagles put together a 7-4 campaign in 2023 with a 5-2 conference record. BC lost 35-17 at Wilkes in the Cape Henry Bowl to complete its season. The Yellow Jackets are 64-17-3 all-time against the Eagles. RMC has won four straight and eight of the past nine meetings with BC.
On Nov. 2, RMC will travel to Washington and Lee for their second meeting of the season. This match-up will count in the conference standings.

Senior Day will fall on Nov. 9 against Ferrum. The Panthers went 3-7 in 2023 with a 1-6 conference mark. The teams have met nine times. FC won the first five meetings, while RMC has claimed the past four encounters.

The Game will be played on Nov. 16 at Hampden-Sydney. The Tigers went 6-4 a season ago with a 4-3 ODAC record. RMC is 57-60-11 vs. H-SC. The Yellow Jackets have won the past 10 meetings, including a 49-10 victory in Ashland in 2023.

Tailgating information will be sent out by the Development Office at a later date.

The Yellow Jackets won their first 13 games in 2023, a program record for victories in a season, and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. RMC hosted three of its four NCAA Playoff contests. The Yellow Jackets won the ODAC title with a 7-0 conference mark. RMC has captured 14 ODAC championships, the most in conference history. The Yellow Jackets were No. 6 in the final AFCA Division III Coaches' Top 25 and No. 7 in the D3football.com final poll.
