GREENSBORO, N.C. – Through 12 events in the 2024 ODAC Championships, Randolph-Macon women's swimming sits fourth with 132 points.
The Yellow Jackets participated in a single event on opening night, which was the 800 free relay. RMC's relay team of
Kelsey James (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial), Brooklyn Decann (Huntersville, N.C./Lincoln Charter),
Kierra Parsons (Akron, Pa./Ephrata), and
Caroline Russell (Lynchburg, Va./EC Glass) finished third in the event. Together they posted a time of 7:53.03, which was nine seconds behind second place Roanoke.
On Thursday in timed finals, RMC finished fifth in the 200 free. The team of
Kelsey James,
Kierra Parsons,
Teaghan McNeill (Knightdale, N.C./Enloe), and
Cayden Fix (Barboursville, Va./William Monroe) finished in 1:39.71 which was less than a second behind Bridgewater.
In the 200 IM,
Melina Christou (Smithfield, Va./Menchville) took second place with a time of 2:08.86, which was narrowly beat out for first.
The Yellow Jackets wrapped up the day with the 400 medley relay. James,
Katelyn Vieni (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis), Christou, and Fix finished fourth in 4:01.19.
Tomorrow's events will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the second session beginning at 6:00 p.m.
