VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Jane Elkins (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) matched her career high in points, while recording her fourteenth double-double of the season as Randolph-Macon women's basketball used a team effort to defeat Virginia Wesleyan on the road 67-34.

How it Happened
- In the first period, Virginia Wesleyan tied up the game at 4-4 on a Gabrielle Athy lay-up with 6:23 remaining. The Yellow Jackets mounted a 17-6 to finish out the period with a 21-8 lead. Elkins totalled seven points and Juliana Park (Fairfax Station, Va./Davidson Day) scored four points during the nearly six minute run. Randolph-Macon used tough defense, holding the Marlin offense to 3-of-15 shooting to go with a smooth offensive attack.
- The Yellow Jackets continued its success on both ends of the floor in the second period, outscoring Virginia Wesleyan 21-9. Elkins continued her dominance on the glass, pulling down rebounds and putting back the lay-up multiple times. The sophomore scored nine points, to total 16 for the first half. Park added five points in the period, while shooting 6-for-10 from the field to give her 13 points in the game. Randolph-Macon grabbed a commanding 42-17 at the halftime break.
- In the third period, the Marlins outscored Randolph-Macon 13-10, with points coming from Mekayla Clarke and Grace Harriman that totalled four each. Sam Smith (Chesterfield, Va./St. Gertrudes) led the scoring for the Yellow Jackets with four in the period. The Lemon and Black would take a 52-30 lead into the final ten minutes.
- Randolph-Macon outscored the Marlins in the final period 15-4. Haley Felton (Bon Air, Va./St. Catherines) made the final bucket of the game on a mid-range jumper to help put away a dominant 67-34 win for the Yellow Jackets.

- Randolph-Macon shot 47.6% from the floor, as Virginia Wesleyan knocked down 22.8% of their shots.
- The Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Marlins 54-to-26.
- Jane Elkins recorded her fourteenth double-double of the season with 24 points, on 11-of-19 shooting and 13 rebounds. The 24 points ties the sophomore's career high in that statistical category. Elkins had a career high in field goals made with 11, which matched her previous mark of nine.
- Park ended the game one rebound short of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
- Smith scored seven points, pulled down six rebounds, dished out four assists and had two steals on the evening.
- Marisa Ziegler (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) scored seven points and had three rebounds.
