Fifteen Yellow Jackets Earn All-ODAC Football Honors

FOREST, Va. – The 15th-ranked Randolph-Macon football team had 15 players recognized as All-ODAC and nine on First Team, both top numbers in the conference.
 
All-ODAC First Team selections included seniors Wade Grubbs (Providence Forge, Va./New Kent) and Owen Arruza (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) on the defensive line, Daniel Eliasek (Midlothian, Va./Trinity) and Tony Skinner (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) at linebacker, Coleton Payne (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) at defensive back, Storm James (Greenville, N.C./JH Rose) on the offensive line and Kyle Ihle (Apex, N.C./Middle Creek) at placekicker. Junior tight end Landon Farriss (New Hanover, N.C./New Hanover) and sophomore offensive lineman Myles Bridges (Henrico, Va./Benedictine) were also All-ODAC First Team.
 
Yellow Jackets on All-ODAC Second Team were senior running back Kwesi Clarke (Wilmington, N.C./North Brunswick), senior linebacker Jackson Deaver (Fayetteville, N.C./Terry Sanford), senior defensive back Brandon Evans (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and junior defensive lineman Jeffrey Acheampong (Montgomery, Md./Sherwood).
 
All-ODAC Third Team members were senior quarterback Dante Casciola (Charlotte, N.C./Weddington) and sophomore defensive back Quentin Mankin (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie).
 
A Preseason All-American, Grubbs recorded 28 tackles. He had 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks. Grubbs had a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown against Berry. He had one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry. Grubbs was All-ODAC First Team in 2022 and 2023.
 
Arruza was fourth on the team with 32 tackles and topped the Yellow Jackets with 7.5 tackles for loss and five quarterback sacks. He had three quarterback hurries, two pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
 
Eliasek led the team with 65 tackles, including 37 solo stops. He had three forced fumbles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, two quarterback hurries, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery. Eliasek was ODAC Defensive Player of the Week and was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week after recording 17 tackles in the 14-7 overtime win over Hobart. He had an interception and forced a fumble on the game's final play to secure the victory. Eliasek had a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown in the 49-16 win over Bridgewater.
 
Skinner was second on the team with 61 tackles and 27 solo stops. He had four tackles for loss and two quarterback sacks. Skinner had a pair of pass breakups and recovered one fumble. He was All-ODAC First Team in 2023.
 
Payne was third on the club with 33 tackles and 24 solo stops. He led the team with four interceptions and had a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown in the 47-21 win at Dickinson. Payne had five pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one tackle for loss. He was All-ODAC Second Team a season ago.
 
James, Farriss and Bridges anchored an offensive line for an offense that was fourth in the country in time of possession at 34:20, 18th in rushing offense at 213.9 yards per game, 18th in fourth down conversion percentage at .667 and second in the league in scoring offense at 35.0. James was All-ODAC First Team in 2023.
 
Ihle went 6 for 6 on field goal attempts with a long of 45. He made 42 extra points and now owns the ODAC record for career extra points made with 176. Ihle averaged 62.3 yards per kickoff, with 18 touchbacks in 33 kicks. He was All-ODAC First Team in 2023.
 
Clarke rushed 85 times for 512 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 6.0 yards per carry. Clarke is 10th in program history with 2,269 career rushing yards and sixth with 30 career rushing touchdowns.
 
Deaver was fifth on the team with 29 tackles. He had three tackles for loss and one pass breakup. Deaver was All-ODAC First Team in 2022 and All-ODAC Second Team in 2023.
 
Evans recorded 19 tackles. He had five pass breakups, two interceptions and assisted on one tackle for loss.
 
Acheampong was fifth on the team with 29 tackles. He tied for the team lead with 7.5 tackles for loss and had 3.5 quarterback sacks. Acheampong had one quarterback hurry and one pass breakup.
 
Casciola completed 66% of his passes, throwing for 1,263 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran for 376 yards and nine scores.
 
Mankin registered 24 tackles. He had two interceptions, including a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown in the 49-16 victory over Bridgewater. Mankin had four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one tackle for loss.
 
The Yellow Jackets were second in the nation with five defensive touchdowns, third in turnover margin at 1.80, seventh with 17 interceptions, eighth with 26 turnovers gained, 10th in passing efficiency defense at 100.0, 16th in rushing defense at 67.0, and 16th in scoring defense at 12.3.
 
RMC went 9-1 during the regular season and was 7-0 in league play to win its third straight ODAC title and 15th overall, the most in conference history. The Yellow Jackets were shut out on the major ODAC postseason awards. Second-place Shenandoah had offensive player of the year and coach of the year, while third-place Washington and Lee had defensive player of the year.
 
Randolph-Macon will host No. 23 Washington & Jefferson in the second round of the NCAA Championship on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 12 noon on Day Field.
