SALEM, Va. - The Randolph-Macon's women's basketball team was upended in game one of the Jean Beamer Tip-Off Classic by #15 Gettysburg College 79-47.

How it Happened:
- Gettysburg began the game in full control, taking a 9-0 lead in the first three minutes. Alayna Arnolie led the way for the Bullets with five points and the run was finished with a lay-up by AB Holsinger. The Yellow Jackets fought back with back-to-back three pointers by Marisa Ziegler (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) and Morgan Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) to cut the deficit to 9-6 with 5:31 remaining. The Bullets would score the following four points to push back ahead with a 13-6 lead. Randolph-Macon was trailing 16-9 with just over two minutes left in the period. Catherine Kagey (Roanoke, Va./Faith Christian) capped off a 7-0 run with a turnaround lay-up with :18 seconds left to pull the Lemon and Black within one point at 16-15.
- The Bullets came out hot again to begin the second period, conducting a 10-3 run to open the first five minutes and led 26-18. Randolph-Macon was only able to get as close as five points to Gettysburg for the final five minutes of the second period. Mackenzie Szlosek was able to finish a driving lay-up with two seconds remaining to push the Bullets lead to 37-28 at the halftime break.
- In the third period, Gettysburg flexed its muscles, using two three-pointers by Arnolie to guide a 12-0 run. Kagey ended the run with 6:42 left in the period with a turnaround lay-up to bring the score to 51-30 with 6:16 left in the third period. The Bullets ended the period on a 15-6 run to take a commanding 66-36 lead into the final ten minutes.
- McKenzie Matheny (Fairfax Station, Va./West Springfield) led the way to begin the fourth period, scoring four of the seven points for Randolph-Macon in the first four minutes. Sam Smith (Chesterfield, Va./St. Catherines) and Juliana Park (Fairfax Station, Va./Davidson Day) scored the final four points for the Yellow Jackets in the period. Gettysburg would take home the win 79-47.
Inside the Numbers:
- Randolph-Macon shot 29.3 percent from the floor, as Gettysburg knocked down 48.5 percent of its shots.
- The Bullets outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 40-to-37 in the entire game.
- Park led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 16 points, The senior also recorded two rebounds and two steals.
- Matheny ended the night in double figures with 11 points off the bench. The junior added three rebounds and two blocks.
- Kagey pulled down 11 rebounds to add to her six points and two assists in the game.
- Smith scored four points, pulled down five rebounds, had three assists and two steals for Randolph-Macon.
