How it Happened
- The Hornets began the first set by taking a 4-1 lead over RMC, who found their footing to knot things up at six. After a 3-0 run for SU, the Yellow Jackets answered with a 4-0 run of their own. SU was up 12-11, but RMC took control of the set from that point, winning seven of the next nine points to take an 18-14 lead. The Hornets grabbed three straight points to stop the run, but it ignited again with five straight from the Yellow Jackets, as they took set one, 25-19.
- Momentum carried over for the Yellow Jackets, as they opened the second set with a 6-1 lead. Seven of the next 10 points went in favor of SU, as they cut the deficit to one. RMC kept their one-point lead until they soared out to a run of eight straight points, which extended to an 11-1 stretch to give RMC command of the set. SU did win seven of the next eight points, but RMC closed out the set to win 25-19.
- Shenandoah began the third set strong, jumping out to a 6-3 lead, but it was quickly erased by the Yellow Jackets, who won five of the next seven to take an 8-7 lead. SU retook the lead at 12-11, but like they had done so much before, the Yellow Jackets went on an 8-1 run to take control of the set. Six of the final eight points went in favor of RMC as they closed out the sweep with a 25-15 set three win.
