ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team held tough with nationally ranked Washington and Lee, but would fall in a high intensity match by a score of 3-1.

How it Happened
- Washington and Lee started the scoring first in the seventh minute. Lucas Pleasants scored on a crossing pass from Buster Couhig to put the Generals ahead early in the match.
- Couhig would put his name on the scorecard again in the 24th minute, as he scored the goal this time and was helped out with an assist from PJ Ryan. This goal would double the Washington and Lee lead to 2-0 with about twenty minutes left in the half.
- The Yellow Jackets turned up the heat in the Washington and Lee defensive zone, sending multiple shots at Will Joseph. The Generals would stand tough and take its 2-0 lead into halftime.
- Randolph-Macon saw great play by Harrison Adams (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) in the second half on the defensive end to help keep the Generals out of scoring opportunities. In the 64th minute, Hawkins Adcock (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) scored his fourth goal of the season to cut the Washington and Lee lead in half at 2-1.
- The Generals added a much needed goal in the 79th minute, Weyimi Agbeyegbe assisted Matthew Jenkins on a goal to up the lead to 3-1.
- The Lemon and Black had one more chance at goal, as Teddy Westervelt (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) had a nice shot at goal but it was stopped by Joseph. Washington and Lee would ultimately take the win back home with a 3-1 score.
Inside the Numbers
- Washington and Lee had 23 shots in the game, compared to the eight that Randolph-Macon tallied. The Generals held a 10-to-4 advantage with shots on frame.
- Washington and Lee held the advantage 11-to-4 in corner opportunities in the 90 minute match.
- Adcock scored his fourth goal of his senior season.
- Adam Braithwaite (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) made seven saves in 90 minutes for the Yellow Jackets. The senior has now moved into third all-time in saves in Randolph-Macon men's soccer history, passing Jason DePre'09 with 199 saves.
