ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's soccer team battled and scored late in the second half to get a key home conference victory over Guilford 1-0 on Family Weekend.

How it Happened
- In the first 15 minutes of the first half, neither team was able to create dangerous attacks at goal. Ian Edwards (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) did have a chance to give the Yellow Jackets the lead in the 16th minute, Guilford was able to stop the chance to keep the score at 0-0.
- The Yellow Jackets saw great play throughout the game and especially in the first half with Grant Counts (Odenton, Md./St. Mary's (Annapolis)) on defense to keep Guilford away from scoring opportunities.
- Edwards was the highlight on both sides in the first half, creating multiple scoring chances that was stopped by great goalkeeping from the Quakers.
- Wiley Eubank (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) had multiple runs out wide throughout the game and finally found Chazz Jones (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy) in the 66th minute. Jones took the feed from Eubank and buried it past the goalkeeper to give Randolph-Macon a 1-0 lead.
- The Lemon and Black took away any chance for Guilford to score the tying goal in the final 20 minutes. Zach Richards (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown), Bryce Kuberek (King George, Va./King George) and Zach DeShazo (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin) were important in that final stand for the Yellow Jackets. The trio controlled the ball in the midfield and kept the pressure out of the defensive end for Randolph-Macon. In a tough game for each side the Yellow Jackets were able to get the three points and take home the 1-0 victory.

- Randolph-Macon had 22 shots in the game, compared to the six that Guilford tallied. The Yellow Jackets held a 9-to-2 advantage with shots on frame.
- Randolph-Macon held the advantage 4-to-3 in corner opportunities in the 90 minute game.
- Jones scored the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets.
- Eubank tallied an assist on the Jones goal for Randolph-Macon.
- Adam Braithwaite (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) made two saves in 90 minutes for the Yellow Jackets.
