ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon Women's Volleyball picked up their second ODAC win on the year in a three-set sweep over Hollins on Friday night in Ashland.
The Basics:
Scores: Randolph-Macon 3, Hollins 0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-19)
Location/Venue: Ashland, Va./Randolph-Macon College/Crenshaw Gym
Records: Randolph-Macon (7-3, 2-1 ODAC), Hollins (1-11, 0-3 ODAC)
How it Happened:
- RMC didn't take long opening up a big lead in the first set, going on a 13-1 run that would extend the lead out to 19-5. Hollins would grab a couple points late, but RMC handled the rest of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Hollins showed fight to begin the second set, holding an 8-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets took the lead and held onto a small lead until RMC scored the final eight points of the set to take set two, 25-16.
- Randolph-Macon began the third set on a 9-3 run and held the lead until Hollins tied the score at 18. RMC proceeded to go on a 3-0 run leading to a Hollins timeout. The Lemon and Black won four of the next five points to end the set and earn the sweep.
By the Numbers:
- RMC hit .406 in the dominant first set of play, finishing with just one error on 32 attacks.
- The Yellow Jackets had 11 different players with a kill in the match, including 10 with at least two kills.
- Leslie Currie (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) totaled five aces and 13 digs on the night, leading the team in both categories.
- Kennedy McDowney (Odenton, Md./Arundel) led the way with three blocks as part of 11 total blocks on the night for RMC.
