Women's Volleyball Rolls Past Lynchburg for First ODAC Win

How it Happened:
  • The first set was tightly contested. Both teams went on small runs, but neither side could pull away. RMC led 23-22 before a 3-0 to end the set for Lynchburg gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the match.
  • RMC led 6-5 in the second set before firing off nine straight points to take a commanding 15-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets commanded the remainder of the set, taking set two by a score of 25-13. RMC hit .387 as a team in the second set.
  • Despite not going on a drastic run like the second set, the Yellow Jackets slowly built out their lead throughout the third set. Ashlyn Knott and Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) combined for 16 kills in the set to give RMC a 2-1 advantage in the match.
  • In the fourth set, RMC took a 3-2 deficit, and turned it into an 11-4 advantage, building a lead that they would hold for the remainder. The Lemon and Black wrapped up the set on a 6-2 run that would ultimately lead them to get their first conference win of the season.
By the Numbers:
  • Ashlyn Knott totaled 17 kills while hitting a staggering .417. She only had two errors on 36 swings.
  • Grace Parker also had 17 kills in the match. Her four service aces led the team and her 15 digs were good for second.
