ASHLAND, Va. – Mike Maczko has been added to the Randolph-Macon men's basketball staff as an assistant coach.

"I am grateful and humbled by the opportunity Coach Merkel has provided me to join the Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball coaching staff," said Maczko. "I am beyond excited to work with our student athletes both on and off the court. Randolph-Macon is a special place with a strong academic reputation and a rich basketball tradition. I can't wait to be a part of it."

Maczko played under head coach Josh Merkel while at Salisbury from 2009-12 after transferring in from NJIT.

Most recently, Maczko served as the assistant men's basketball coach at Baruch College for the past season. Prior to his time with the Bearcats, Maczko was the head men's basketball coach at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York for five seasons, leading the Mavericks to their first ECC tournament appearance in four years.

His prior collegiate coaching experience included a one-year stint as an assistant men's basketball coach and head JV coach at Post University. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins from 2013-15 and a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech in 2015-16.

"We are excited to welcome Mike Maczko to our Ashland and Randolph-Macon family," said Merkel. "He has over a decade of coaching experience along with great head coaching experience. Mike understands winning at the highest levels, is a great relationship builder and holds high standards for himself and those around him. It is exciting to work with someone you coached in college and our players will benefit greatly from his experience and attention to player development. Mike is a valuable addition to our Randolph-Macon community!"

Maczko played semi-professionally after his time at Salisbury, playing two seasons with the Bay Area Shuckers in the APBL where he averaged 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in his second season.
