Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – The 10th-ranked Randolph-Macon softball team hosted a top-ten midweek matchup against Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland. RMC got a shutout win in game one, 3-0 and prevailed on a walk-off home run in game two in extra innings to sweep the Marlins.

How it Happened (Game 1):
- The Lemon and Black jumped onto the scoreboard in the first inning, getting the first two runners on and then Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va./Rappahannock) drove in Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) with a double to take a 1-0 lead.
- Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) continued to dominate her way through the game, as Virginia Wesleyan got their second and final hit of the game in the third inning, which Ellis stranded on third.
- RMC added insurance in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a leadoff homer by Rilee Baughan, and added another on a wild pitch with two outs to give them a 3-0 lead which proved to be the final.
- The Marlins got a runner on with a walk in the top of the seventh but Ellis had no trouble with the final two outs, giving RMC a 3-0 win.
By the Numbers (Game 1):
- Gracie Ellis pitched another gem, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing just four baserunners all game, striking out three batters. She also had a hit at the plate.
- Rilee Baughan supplied two-thirds of the runs for the RMC offense, going 2-3 at the plate with an RBI double and a home run. The homer was her sixth of the season, which leads the team and sits second in the ODAC.
- Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) and Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) were the other two Yellow Jackets hitters with hits in the game.
How it Happened (Game 2):
- The leadoff hitters for both teams singled to lead off their respective halves of the inning, but both teams left a runner on to keep it scoreless after one.
- Rilee Baughan continued to roll through the fifth inning. RMC had a chance to strike in the bottom of the fifth, but stranded two runners on base as the game remained scoreless heading into the final two innings.
- Gracie Ellis doubled with one out in the seventh to serve as the potential winning run, but the game headed into extras after the Marlins pitched out of danger.
- Virginia Wesleyan plated two runs in the top of the eighth that put RMC on their heels. RMC got a one out single from Amanda Lanyon, followed by an RBI single by Rilee Baughan, leading to a walk-off three-run homer by Kayla Davis for the Yellow Jackets to complete the sweep, winning 4-2.
By the Numbers (Game 2):
- Rilee Baughan pitched extremely well, throwing an eight-inning complete game, allowing just one earned run on four hits. She also went 1-4 at the plate with a RBI single in the eighth to help the rally.
- Kayla Davis blasted her third homer of the season in walk-off fashion. Although it was her only hit of the game, it was a big one.
- Amanda Lanyon set the table well for the Yellow Jackets, going 2-4 with a run scored.
- Gracie Ellis had a double in the seventh inning as part of a two-hit game for the sophomore.
