Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – The 9th-ranked Randolph-Macon softball team wrapped up the month of March with two more home games on Tuesday afternoon to battle the Stevenson Mustangs. The Yellow Jackets won 9-1 in game won thanks to a potent offense and continued the hot hitting by winning 8-3 in game two. The Yellow Jackets have now won eight straight games.

How it Happened (Game 1):
- The Yellow Jackets jumped on the board in the first inning after a one-out walk by Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) to set the table. She stole second and was driven in by a two-out single by Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan).
- Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) struck out two of the first three batters she faced going 1-2-3 in the first inning and stranded two Mustangs runners in the second.
- Ellie Herndon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) led off the third inning by reaching on an error, prompting back-to-back singles by Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) and Naomi Sadler. Rilee Baughan (Warsaw, Va./Rappahannock) then unloaded the bases with a grand slam to give the Yellow Jackets a 5-0 third inning lead.
- In the fourth inning, the Yellow Jackets got four hits and drew a walk in the inning that plated four runs capped off by a two-run single by Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett) who continues to be on a tear at the plate.
- Stevenson struck for a home run to lead off the fifth inning but it was too little, too late as Ellis finished off the inning to earn the win 9-1 for RMC.
By the Numbers (Game 1):
- Riley Baughan launched her fourth homer of the season in grand fashion which broke the game open for RMC. Baughan went 1-2 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored in addition to the grand slam.
- Naomi Sadler reached base all three times at the plate, going 2-2 with a walk, a stolen base, and three runs scored.
- Kayla Davis went 2-3 at the dish, driving in three runs including the first run of the game on either side.
- Olivia Owens extended her hitting streak to 18 games by going 2-3 with a double and two RBI.
- Gracie Ellis once again threw well, throwing all five innings, striking out six and allowing four hits.
How it Happened (Game 2):
- Amanda Lanyon led off the bottom half of the first inning by reaching on an error, stealing two bases and then was driven in by Kayla Davis. The rally didn't stop there, as Kiley Lamberth (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) singled to drive in a run to extend the lead to two after one inning.
- The Mustangs immediately battled back, taking the lead in the top of the second by scoring three runs on four hits but Rilee Baughan stranded two other runners to keep the lead from growing.
- Back-to-back singles to lead off the third inning helped get a run on the board with a two-out double by Kiley Lamberth knotted the score at three.
- The Yellow Jackets started the fourth inning with three straight hits, first a double by Ellie Herndon, then a single by Bailey Hairfield (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby), and finally another double by Amanda Lanyon drove in Herndon. Hairfield came in to score on a ground out later in the inning, extending the lead to 5-3.
- The Yellow Jackets continued to score runs, as another two hits led to two more runs for RMC in the fifth inning and then RMC added one more in the sixth on Rilee Baughan's second homer of the day, this time a solo shot.
By the Numbers (Game 2):
- Rilee Baughan launched her second home run of the day and fifth of the season. She went 2-3 at the plate with two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk to her credit. She also threw a complete game on the mound, allowing no runs after the second inning to stifle the Mustangs.
- Kiley Lamberth was a tough out, going 3-3 at the plate with two singles and a double. She also had two RBI.
- Olivia Owens added another hit in game two, extending her hit streak to 19 consecutive games. Owens is now batting an even .500 on the season.
- Kayla Davis picked up another two hits, giving her four on the day. She also had an RBI.
- Ellie Herndon was also a tough out, going 2-2 at the plate with a sacrifice fly leading to an RBI and a run scored.
