Lance Johnson (South Riding, Va./Freedom) hit five threes on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds to lead Randolph-Macon to a 91-53 win over Bryn Athyn on day one of the 2023 RMC Coaches Tournament.

How it Happened
- Lance Johnson was connecting early from beyond the arc, hitting each of his first four attempts from range in the first eight minutes of the game to help RMC push out to a 19-12 lead. The Yellow Jackets completed an 11-0 run to extend the lead to 27-12 with 8:24 remaining in the first. Bryn Athyn could not cut the deficit to single digits before the half as RMC took a 39-29 advantage into the break.
- The Lions opened the second half on a 4-0 run that cut the lead to 39-33, the lowest it would be the rest of the way. Between the 17:42 and the 9:00 mark, RMC embarked on a 28-6 run that would blow the lead open. Seven different Yellow Jackets scored during the run, led by Margad Choijilsuren (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) with six points. RMC would make the lead 30 points at 71-41 with 7:33 to go and extended the second half run to 41-12 when a Choijilsuren three-point play made the score 80-45 with 5:33 remaining. The Lemon and Black closed the game, winning 91-53 to win their seventh game in the last eight contests.

- 267 points in the last three games is the most in a three game span for RMC since Jan 25-Feb. 2 when the Yellow Jackets also scored 267 points in three games against Averett (86), Ferrum (85), and Shenandoah (96).
- Lance Johnson led the way with 19 points on 7-9 shooting and 5-7 from deep. His 19 points, eight rebounds, seven made shots, and five made threes all mark career-highs for the senior.
- Margad Choijilsuren scored in double-figures for the third straight game with 12 points.

- Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and a steal.
- RMC outrebounded Bryn Athyn 47-28 for a +62 rebound differential in the last three games. 47 boards is a season-high for a single game.
- The Yellow Jackets had 19 assists in the game, marking the third game in the last five with at least 19 assists.
