Women's Volleyball Tops Rhodes in Five Sets at Emory Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. – Randolph-Macon women's volleyball used strong play in the final two sets to win five-set match against Rhodes in Atlanta.

How it Happened

The first set was extremely close throughout, with the largest lead by either side coming at 18-14 with RMC in the lead. Rhodes ignited a 6-0 run that would give them the lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the set to take a one-set advantage.
Set two saw RMC take control for nearly the entire set. They slowly built out a lead without a run of more than three consecutive points until the end of the set where the Yellow Jackets posted a 9-2 run to close the set and even the match.
Rhodes took control of the beginning of the third set, but RMC quickly cut the deficit and take the lead. The Lynx were able to rebuild their lead with a 7-1 run to make the score 19-14. Despite a comeback effort by RMC, Rhodes held on to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The fourth set was tied 11-11 before RMC took over with a 10-4 run that gave them a strong lead that the Lynx couldn't come back from. RMC closed out the set to force a deciding set five with a 25-18 set four win.
The fifth set was all RMC as they carried the momentum over from the fourth set. After the score was tied 1-1, the Yellow Jackets took the lead and held it for the rest of the set to complete the win.

Inside the Numbers

Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) notched 21 kills on a .313 hitting percentage. She also held the team-lead with 20 digs, her most in a match since Sept. 2. Filling up the stat sheet, she also had three service aces.
Milly Mach (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) totaled a season-high 49 assists in the match and hasd double-digit digs for the second straight game with 10.
Megan Bost (Angier, N.C./West Johnston) continued her strong play with 16 kills with a .333 hitting percentage.
RMC hit .414, .481, and .524 in the three sets they won in the match. Overall, they hit .317 to just .197 for Rhodes.
Lola Nolasco (Georgetown, Tx./Gateway College Prep) hit .400 for seven kills and had three blocks along the way.
