– Randolph-Macon men's basketball used strong defense to down Cal Lutheran in the home opener in Crenshaw Gym on Sunday night, 60-51.

How it Happened
- The Kingsmen got out to a 7-2 lead early on in the first half before RMC took the lead back with a 6-0 run. Neither team could pull away from the other through the remainder of the first but a Jabril Robinson (Rockville, Md./South Kent Prep) jumper gave the Yellow Jackets a 25-22 halftime lead.
- The Yellow Jackets' offense started to click in the second half pulling away to a seven-point lead at 40-33 but CLU cut it back to 40-40 with a 7-0 run. RMC answered with a 10-2 run of their own and was able to extend out to the largest lead to that point at 50-42. The Lemon and Black led by five with a minute to go and Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) sealed it with two free throws and a layup to five RMC a 60-51 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Mbangue led all scorers with 14 points and neared a double-double with nine rebounds. He also tallied two blocks and a steal.
- Jabril Robinson was the other RMC player in double-figures, scoring 13 points for his fourth consecutive 10+ point game in as many games on the year.
- The Yellow Jackets shot a season-high 88.9% (8-9) from the charity stripe.
- RMC out-rebounded CLU 42-29 in the game and forced 12 turnovers to RMC's 10, marking the fourth game to open the year with less turnovers than their opponent.
