Field Hockey Concludes Season in ODAC Quarterfinals

ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon field hockey fell to Bridgewater in the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament on Tuesday night.
Score: Bridgewater 1, Randolph-Macon 0
Location/Venue: Ashland, Va./Randolph-Macon College/Nunnally Field
Records: Randolph-Macon (11-7, 6-3 ODAC), Bridgewater (8-8, 5-4 ODAC)
How it Happened
  • Bridgewater had five penalty corner opportunities in the first quarter but couldn't cash in on any of them. Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) made two stops late in the frame to keep it scoreless.
  • It took five minutes of the second quarter for the Eagles to get on the board, scoring the only goal of the game. Anna Scheir (Fallston, Md./Fallston) made a defensive save late in the half to keep the deficit at one.
  • Outside of one save by Ambrogi-Torres and one shot by Caitlin Porter (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam), neither team could generate offense in the final two frames until RMC made a late push in the fourth, but came up empty.
Inside the Numbers
  • Anna Scheir's defensive save gives her four on the year. It ties for the most by an RMC player since 2018.
  • Valentina Ambrogi-Torres totaled three saves in the game, including two in the first quarter.
  • The Yellow Jackets did not allow a goal on any of the eight penalty corners for the Eagles.
