Parker Breaks ODAC Career Kills Record at EMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) broke the ODAC career kills record on Tuesday night in a five-set loss at EMU.
Score:  Eastern Mennonite 3, Randolph-Macon 2 (24-26, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24, 18-16)

How it Happened
  • RMC built out a four-point lead in the first set at 12-8 before the Royals were able to go on a 4-0 run to tie it at 12. EMU had a 19-17 lead, but RMC didn't waver, winning six of the final eight points of the set to take set one 26-24.
  • EMU was able to grab a healthy lead early in set two, but RMC chipped away at the seven-point deficit to cut it to two points, but the Royals were able to hold on late in the frame to even the score at one.
  • Despite never going on a run of more than three points, RMC took the lead and sustained the lead throughout the third set. The margin was once 15-7 and RMC held on through the remainder to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
  • The lead flipped hands multiple times in the fourth set, with RMC holding the lead for the beginning of the frame until EMU ignited a 5-0 run that gave them a 15-12 lead that they would not give up, sending the match to a deciding set five.
  • Once again, RMC had a lead early in the fifth, holding a 9-6 advantage. The Royals then broke out for a 7-0 run to take a 13-9 lead but was answered by a 6-1 run by RMC, giving the Yellow Jackets match point. The Royals won four of the final five points of the set to pull off the upset.
Inside the Numbers
  • Megan Bost (Angier, N.C./West Johnston) was once again solid at the net, posting 14 kills and hit .480.
  • Grace Parker led the Yellow Jackets with 15 kills, while also finishing with 12 digs and four blocks.
  • Maddy DeCandido (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) led the team with 24 digs.
  • RMC had five separate players with double-digit digs.
  • Jordynn Little (Apex, N.C./Green Level) hit .313 on her way to seven kills.
  • Lola Nolasco (Georgetown, Tx./Gateway College Prep) led the way with five blocks.
Inside the Numbers
  • With her 13th kill in the match, Grace Parker broke the ODAC career kills record, previously set at 1,714 career kills.
