How it Happened
  • The Yellow Jackets jumped out to the lead with a 9-0 run early in the first set to give them an 11-2 advantage. SU proceeded to return the favor with a 15-3 run to retake the lead, 17-14. RMC would win all but three of the remaining points to take set one 25-20.
  • In reverse fashion, Shenandoah began the second set with a 10-2 lead. RMC came back to tie it at 15 but could never take the lead as Shenandoah answered each RMC point to win 25-20.
  • The third set was tight throughout. After a 14-14 tie, the Hornets were able to separate with a 6-1 run that would be the difference-maker to give SU a 2-1 lead in the match.
  • RMC was able to take a large lead early in the fourth and maintained the lead without wavering. An 8-0 run gave the Yellow Jackets a 16-6 lead and RMC eventually won the final four points of the set to even the score at two heading into the deciding set.
  • The fifth set was back-and-forth until Shenandoah took a 13-11 lead. Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) ignited a 5-1 run that would give RMC a 16-14 win in set five, winning the match.
