Women's Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight with Sweep of Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. – Randolph-Macon Women's Volleyball picked up their third straight sweep on Friday night with an ODAC win over Ferrum on the road.
Scores:  Randolph-Macon 3, Ferrum 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19)

How it Happened:
  • RMC jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead that gave them a major advantage early on. Ferrum was able to cut the lead back to 11-10 before the Yellow Jackets extended it back out. RMC finished the set on an 8-2 run to take set one 25-15.
  • The second set was tightly contested until RMC took a 14-13 lead and turned it into a 23-14 lead that would put them in cruise control for the remainder of the set to win 25-16. RMC finished the set hitting .406 as a team with 17 kills.
  • Ferrum had a 7-5 lead early in the third set before the Yellow Jackets vaulted out to another big run, this time a 9-0 run that made the score 14-7. The Panthers slowly cut into the RMC lead but the Lemon and Black won five of the last eight points to sweep FC.
By the Numbers:
  • Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was the only player for either team with double-digit kills, finishing with 17.
  • The Yellow Jackets finished with 14 service aces, one behind their season-high set on Sept. 22 vs Hollins.
  • Kaitlyn Kaplan (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) totaled 19 assists and four aces.
  • Mia Zazzero (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) had a staggering six aces in just three sets.
  • Seven RMC players had at least one block assist.
