ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon men's swimming team returned had the latter of their back-to-back as they hosted Marymount for a Saturday Matinee meet in Ashland. In a solid day for the Yellow Jackets, R-MC won the meet 146.5-115.5.
Individually, R-MC won eight events, as four different swimmers each won two. They also picked up seven silvers and three bronzes on the day.
Alex Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) was one of the four who had two wins on the day, winning the 500 free with a lifetime best time of 5:07.16. He also picked up first in the 100 fly, with a time of 54.43. Richardson also finished second in the 100 IM, finishing in 58.35.
Jacob Wills (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) had a pair of golds as well, winning the 50 back in 26.02 and the 100 back in 55.86.
Liam McEneaney (Suffolk, Va./Home School) won both the 50 breast and the 100 breast, swimming to the tune of a 29.10 time in the 50 and a 1:05.04 in the 100.
After picking up two wins yesterday, Ben Pastva (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) grabbed two more today, one in the 50 free in 22.51 and another in the 100 free in 51.22. He also swam a personal best 26.72 time for fourth in the 50 back.
Ryan Deavers (Broadway, Va./Broadway) finished second twice, with a silver in the 50 breast in 29.85. He also grabbed second in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:05.70. He also finished fourth in the 100 IM in 1:01.99.
Aidan Campbell (Newport News, Va./Warwick) finished second in the 200 IM in 2:06.16 and third in the 100 free in 53.61.
Carter Bingman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) finished the 1000 free in 11:07.27 to pick up a silver and four points for R-MC.
Evan Fannin (Hayes, Va./Christchurch) picked up a silver in the 50 fly, finishing in 24.87. Morgan VerMeer (Lancaster, Va./Lancaster) also picked up second in the 50 free in 20.67.
Third place finishes came from Matthew Romero (La Plata, Md./La Plata) in the 1000 free (11:33.12) and Matthew Appleton (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponox) in the 500 free (5:16.85).
In relays, R-MC finished second in the 400 medley relay with a team of Appleton, Michael Senter (Chesterfield, Va./Home School/Matoaca), Bingman, and VerMeer with a time of 3:57.27. They also finished second in the 50 free relay in 3:23.18 with a team of Pastva, Wills, Fannin, and Richardson.
R-MC will be back in action Jan. 21 for a Senior Day meet with Washington and Lee at 1:00 p.m. in Ashland.
