The Basics:
Scores: Randolph-Macon 3, Ferrum 0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-9)
Location/Venue: Ashland, Va./Crenshaw Gym
Records: Randolph-Macon 12-2 (5-1 ODAC), Ferrum 5-11 (0-4 ODAC)
How It Happened:
- The opening set saw Randolph-Macon take control early as a pair of Bailey Johnson (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) kills set the tone for the Yellow Jackets. R-MC used a 6-0 run deep in the set to pull away and take the 1-0 lead.
- Randolph-Macon continued the success from the opening set to the second stanza, as the Yellow Jackets never trailed in the frame. Ferrum would stay in the set down the stretch, but R-MC would not let the Panthers back in it.
- Randolph-Macon would make a statement in the third and final set, as the Yellow Jackets laid claim to 14 of the first 20 points in the set. The Yellow Jackets held Ferrum to just nine points in the closing set, the least amount of points given up in a set this season.
Inside The Numbers:
- Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 23 kills yet again, making her 14 for 14 in matches with double-digit kills to start the season. Leslie Currie (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) tallied 13 digs to lead the way on the defensive side.
- Milly Mach (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) and Kaitlyn Kaplan (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) both shined at the net as well, as the pair of setters recorded a combined 36 assists in just three sets.
Up Next:
- The Yellow Jackets have a quick turnaround as they play hosts to Roanoke in less than 24 hours. The match is slated for an 11:00 a.m. start inside Crenshaw Gym.
