(MANSFIELD CENTER, Conn.) – No. 16 Randolph-Macon is prepped and ready for the Mansfield, Conn. Super Regional where they will be paired opposite of No. 3 Eastern Connecticut State. The Yellow Jackets and Warriors will battle it out on the diamond for a ticket to the Division III Softball Championship finals in Salem, Virginia.
It will be a best-of-three series with Game 1 taking place on Friday at 2 p.m. Game 2 will take place the following day at noon. Should a third game be necessary, it would be played following Game 2.
Fans of Randolph-Macon softball may be familiar with the name of Eastern Connecticut State. The Warriors are no stranger to the national stage and joined the Lemon and Black in Tyler, Texas, at the national championship finals in 2019. ECSU is also a four-time NCAA national champion with a fifth to its credit with one won in the AIAW before the NCAA sponsored softball.

Inside The Numbers For The Yellow Jackets
- Randolph-Macon's Gracie Ellis (Fr., New Kent, Va. / New Kent) has been impressive all season and one of many sources for the Yellow Jackets' success. She is among the best in the nation where she is No. 9 in complete games (22), wins (22), strikeouts (229), and strikeout-to-walk ratio (10.90).
- In addition to the aforementioned, she's No. 12 in WHIP (0.79), No. 16 in shutouts (7), No. 16 in saves (3), No. 30 in ERA (1.27), No. 30 in strikeouts per seven innings (9.1), No. 30 in walks allowed per seven innings (0.84), and No. 31 in hits allowed per seven innings (4.69).
- At the plate, Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) has been a key source of the offense. She is in the top 10 nationally in RBIs with 53 so far on the season. She also leads the team and is tied for 19th nationally with 11 home runs on the season.
- Kayla Davis (Fr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) and Amanda Lanyon (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) have also been impressive with the run production as they have 38 and 31 RBIs, respectively.
- With the games played in the regional championship last week, Baughan now has 100 total bases on the season. Lanyon is at 77 with Davis now at 74.
- Sacrificing is nothing new to the Yellow Jackets. They are eighth in the nation with 18 sacrifice flies and No. 30 with 36 sacrifice bunts.
- The Jackets have pounded out 386 hits as a team, No. 28 nationally.
- The R-MC battery has been consistent throughout the season with a 1.08 WHIP, No. 17 nationally.
Inside The Numbers For The Warriors
- The hosts will counter in the circle with Alexis Michon and Morgan Bolduk. Michon is tied with Ellis with 22 victories on the season. Bolduk added 12 including one in the regional championship win against Kean on Monday.
- If there is such a thing as a closer in softball, Eastern has it in Alyssa Vilchez. She is fourth in the nation with four saves on the year.
- The Warriors are speedy on the base paths. Maggie Baker led the team and is No. 34 nationally with 27 stolen bases this year. Cassie Woods is right behind her with No. 24.
- As a team the Warriors make few mistakes. They are third in the nation with a 0.976 fielding percentage and are also third with a 1.21 ERA.
- They are third in shutouts with 20 on the season.
- They are fourth with 55 sacrifice bunts.
- The ECSU team WHIP stands fifth nationally at 0.91.
Tickets
Tickets will be available in a similar style to last week's regional in Ashland. It will be cash only with a $10 admission for adults and a $7 admission for students, children over two years of age, and seniors. Tickets must be purchased at the site of competition.
