Softball Hosts McDaniel For Final Regular Season Home Games

(ASHLAND, Va.) – Thursday will be the final chance fans get to see the No. 10 Randolph-Macon softball team at home during the regular season. The Yellow Jackets will square off against McDaniel in a rescheduled doubleheader from earlier in the season.

This will be just the fourth meeting all-time between the Jackets and the Green Terror. The series started in 2008 with a doubleheader sweep by the YJs by scores of 3-1 and 12-1.

The Basics

Time: 2:30 p.m.

Venue: R-MC Softball Field

A five-spot in the fourth inning helped the Lemon and Black go up 6-0 and hold off a fifth inning rally by the Green Terror at the Triangle Grand Slam Classic. Eight different Yellow Jackets recorded hits and Maddie Stone provided a two-RBI single to right in what proved to be the difference in the game.

Amanda Lanyon (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) had a big game in the nightcap as she went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored to help the Jackets to a split with the Royals. Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) added two RBIs and scored a run to give R-MC's top two hitters in the lineup six total. Errors hurt the Yellow Jackets in the opener as five of the six runs were unearned in the daily split.

McDaniel 2, Haverford 5 (Game 1)
McDaniel 2, Haverford 4 (Game 2)
Saturday, April 16, at Haverford

McDaniel opened up Game 1 with a pair of runs in the top of the first only to see Haverford answer with solo runs in the next three frames and a couple of insurance runs in the sixth en route to the win. Game 2 saw the Green Terror tie the game at 1-1 in the fourth and take a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but Haverford again struck in the sixth with three runs.
